Indo logo ao que interessa, o disco da vez é &lt;strong&gt;Blending Times&lt;/strong&gt;, último trabalho de &lt;strong&gt;Ravi Coltrane&lt;/strong&gt;, a quem carinhosamente chamo de "o filho do homem". Como comentei no post anterior, tive o prazer de passar duas semanas em NY e de conferir ao vivo a perfomance do Sr. Coltrane no subsolo mais nobre da cidade, o lendário &lt;a href="http://villagevanguard.com/"&gt;Village Vanguard&lt;/a&gt;, casa com mais de 70 anos de história e que recebeu simplesmente todos os grandes nomes do Jazz. Fiquei realmente muito feliz em poder me sentar em um lugar tão abençoado e ouvir jazz de primeiríssima qualidade. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Blending Times&lt;/strong&gt; é um disco bem versátil, bastante "flúido" às vezes, como na faixa de abertura, &lt;strong&gt;Shine&lt;/strong&gt;. No entanto, muitos são os gênios que ainda não deram as caras por aqui, razão pela qual me forço a postar muita coisa antiga antes de partir pra músicos mais novos. Um dos lapsos desse espaço é corrigido hoje com &lt;b&gt;Night Hawk&lt;/b&gt;, álbum de 1960 do grande&lt;b&gt; Coleman Hawkins&lt;/b&gt;.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Geralmente associado às big bands, preferi seguir outro caminho e colocar aqui o álbum gravado por Hawkins em parceria com o saxofonista &lt;b&gt;Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis&lt;/b&gt;, figura que acompanhou &lt;b&gt;Cont Basie&lt;/b&gt; e &lt;b&gt;Louis Armstrong&lt;/b&gt; (outros dois  gênios que estão por vir). Radiolarians II é dos melhores discos do trio, variando de composições em formato bem tradicional (mas muito bem executadas, claro) até coisas bem experimentais. Essas gravações são diferentes de tudo o que já coloquei aqui; são bem diferentes também das demais gravações de Monk. Se você nunca teve o prazer de escutar o pianista, não comece por aqui. Mergulhe antes em &lt;a href="http://outtojazz.blogspot.com/2008/07/hoje-mais-tarde.html"&gt;Monk + Coltrane&lt;/a&gt;, por exemplo. Esse disco é pra quem já tem certa familiaridade com seu som.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Disponibilizarei apenas o disco 2, que contém em sua grande parte gravações que nunca haviam sido lançadas. Meu período favorito do jazz, acho que já escrevi aqui, vai de 1955 até 1965. Isso reflete, por certo, nos discos aqui disponibilizados. De toda sorte, tenho tentado me aprofundar um pouco nas raízes do jazz; nas mudanças que levaram ao surgimento do Swing e as big bands comandadas por &lt;strong&gt;Sidney Bechet&lt;/strong&gt; e &lt;strong&gt;Gleen Miller&lt;/strong&gt;; nas grandes contribuições de &lt;strong&gt;Louis Armstrong&lt;/strong&gt; e &lt;a href="http://outtojazz.blogspot.com/2007/07/t-certo-que-as-composies-so-todas-do.html"&gt;Duke Ellington&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Esses estudos me levaram a nomes como &lt;strong&gt;Count Basie&lt;/strong&gt;, &lt;strong&gt;Coleman Hawkins&lt;/strong&gt; e o saxofonista &lt;strong&gt;Lester Young&lt;/strong&gt;, conhecido como &lt;strong&gt;The President&lt;/strong&gt;. Prez começou a despontar tocando na banda de Basie, em 1933, e em 1944 já começou a gravar discos como líder. &lt;strong&gt;The President Plays &lt;/strong&gt;foi gravado em 1952, em parceria com o pianista &lt;strong&gt;Oscar Peterson&lt;/strong&gt;, responsável por ótimos momentos do disco. Aproveitando o gancho, aqui vai uma gravação de 1957 que há muito pouco tempo foi recuperada. Lançada em 2005, &lt;strong&gt;At The Carnigie Hall&lt;/strong&gt; registra o quarteto de Monk em um de seus melhores momentos. Após quase 9 meses tocando no &lt;strong&gt;Five Spot&lt;/strong&gt;, sax e piano demonstravam uma sintonia marcante. Completavam o conjunto &lt;strong&gt;Ahmed Abdul-Malik&lt;/strong&gt; no baixo e &lt;strong&gt;Shadow Wilson&lt;/strong&gt; na bateria, este último inspiradíssimo em &lt;strong&gt;Epistrophy&lt;/strong&gt;, faixa 5 deste disco. Os ataques rápidos no prato de condução são marcantes, quase frenéticos, destacam o tema central de uma forma muito particular. Definitivamente minha faixa favorita. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;Esse período foi de vital importância para Coltrane, que desenvolveu bastante sua técnica, valendo-se do fato de ser o único instrumentista de sopro. Considero &lt;strong&gt;Working’&lt;/strong&gt; único dentro da série por contar com composições do próprio Miles - Four, Half Nelson e The Theme, esta fechando cada lado do álbum – e uma composição de &lt;strong&gt;John Coltrane&lt;/strong&gt;, Trane´s Blues. Coltrane ainda era “apenas” um ótimo músico de apoio, dependente sério de heroína, o que levou Miles a demiti-lo no final do próprio ano de 1956. Temos aqui nada menos que o debut da Debut, ou seja, o primeiro lançamento do selo &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Debut Records&lt;/span&gt;, montado por Mingus em parceria com o fenomenal baterista &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Max Roach&lt;/span&gt;, que aparece em participação especial na faixa &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Percussion Discussion&lt;/span&gt;, praticamente um duelo entre os dois músicos. Reconheço que a faixa pode ser difícil em um primeiro momento, mas chega a ser absurdo a sincronia e a riqueza de sons extraídos de apenas dois instrumentos  - três, se considerarmos o &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;overdub&lt;/span&gt; de baixo que Mingus posteriormente acrescentou à faixa.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;De toda sorte, este está certamente entre os melhores discos de Charles Mingus, abrigando também algumas de suas melhores composições. Impossível não destacar o marcante tema de &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Jump Monk&lt;/span&gt;, que tenta emular ao longo de quase sete minutos as diferentes personalidades de &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Thelonious Monk&lt;/span&gt;; All The Things You C#, uma envolvente versão de &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;All The Things You Are&lt;/span&gt;, composição que posteriormente ganharia ainda outra leitura; e a sensacional &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Work Song&lt;/span&gt;, sua primeira composição de caráter político. Quase gravou um disco com &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Tom Jobim&lt;/span&gt;, que veio a falecer pouco tempo antes do início do projeto. De toda sorte, essa ligação pode ser vista no disco &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Double Rainbow: The Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim&lt;/span&gt;, bem como na primeira faixa do seu primeiro disco como líder. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Blue Bossa&lt;/span&gt; é uma das duas composição do trompetista &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Kenny Dorham&lt;/span&gt; que preenchem &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Page One, &lt;/span&gt;constituído também por mais quatro composições do próprio Henderson, a maioria com um (e às vezes dois) pés no hard bop.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;A única coisa que me desagrada nesse belo disco é um detalhe dessa também bela capa. Posso estar enganado, mas acho que quando ele foi lançado a ordem era outra... &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Don Cherry &amp;amp; John Coltrane&lt;/span&gt;, sendo que o Coltrane tinha acabado de assinar com a &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Atlantic&lt;/span&gt;. Independente da ordem, considero um bom disco de hard bop, com destaque pra faixa dois, &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Focus on Sanity&lt;/span&gt;. Calmo, mas sem ser sonolento. De toda sorte, Haden ficou conhecido por integrar o conjunto de &lt;strong&gt;Ornette Coleman&lt;/strong&gt;, um dos nomes fortes do free jazz. Gleason, mas apenas no que diz respeito à produção de Coltrane após &lt;strong&gt;A Love Supreme&lt;/strong&gt;. Apesar da bagunça que ele causava no público na época em que se apresentava com Miles Davis, tocando um sax que as pessoas nunca haviam escutado antes, mesmo assim considero o Coltrane dessa época "popular".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Blue Train&lt;/strong&gt; foi composto nessa primeira fase, o primeiro esforço sério e concentrado de Coltrane como compositor. Um disco muito bem pensado, realizado pela &lt;strong&gt;Blue Note&lt;/strong&gt;, um selo muito mais cuidadoso do que a &lt;strong&gt;Prestige Records&lt;/strong&gt; (que tinha Coltrane sob contrato), conhecida por sua "política de take único". Não necessariamente vou falar sobre um disco. É provável, na verdade, que eu apenas coloque aqui uma capa. Pra ser 100% sincero, eu queria criar um fotolog, mas sempre falei mal de fotologs, e se tem uma coisa que eu prezo na minha vida é ser coerente. "&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;Visivelmente não cumpri a promessa das atualizações, em parte porque me forçava a escrever sempre algumas palavras. Podem parecer palavras simples e de pouca elaboração, mas foram palavras que sempre tomavam seu tempo - afinal de contas, possuo um carinho muito grande por cada disco aqui apresentado. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;No entanto, acho que as coisas vão mudar. Se eu falava pouco, vou falar menos. Por outro lado, as postagens devem aumentar. Vou tentar, pelo menos. O fato do &lt;a href="http://oink.cd/"&gt;Oink&lt;/a&gt; estar fechado não favorece... está mais difícil achar bons discos por aí. Como ouvi em alguma música esses dias, só tenho tempo para pensar no tempo que eu não tenho. De toda sorte, encerro esse primeiro ano de recomendações com um dos mais influentes álbuns da história do jazz. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Kind of Blue&lt;/span&gt; é a perfeição registrada em sons; uma mudança na carreira de Miles Davis que levaria a uma mudança em todo o mundo do jazz. Muito já foi dito sobre o disco, e realmente no momento não me sinto na posição de acrescentar nada. Uma das melhores obras do senhor Tyner, antes de seus discos mais piradinhos que estavam mais pra &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;free&lt;/span&gt; do que pra lá.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;McCoy Tyner&lt;/span&gt;, como já citado em outros posts, fazia parte do lendário quarteto do lendário&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt; John Coltrane&lt;/span&gt;. Não da pra ver, no entanto, mas a capa acima é na verdade de &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Rip, Rig and Panic&lt;/span&gt;, essa sim, obra que merece destaque neste espaço.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Demorei muito, mas deixo apenas quatro registros: primeiro, que o Sr. Kirk não era um multi-instrumentista, mas O multi-instrumentista (vide &lt;a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/75/RolandKirk.jpg/200px-RolandKirk.jpg"&gt;foto&lt;/a&gt;), desses de tocar três instrumentos ao mesmo tempo. Mais que O multi-instrumentista, era um camarada tão fora de série que mandou fazer um saxofone especial e continuou tocando mesmo depois que um derrame paralisou todo o lado direito de seu corpo. O Sr. Kirk contribuiu também com boas gravações do &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Mingus Sextet&lt;/span&gt;, entre elas o &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Mingus Oh Yeah!&lt;/span&gt;, já citado aqui como um de meus discos favoritos. O terceiro registro é que esse álbum aí conta com a presença de &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Elvin Jones&lt;/span&gt; na bateria, o lendário músico do lendário quarteto do lendário &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;John Coltrane&lt;/span&gt;. Por fim, intimo todos a escutarem &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;From Bechet, Byas, And Fats&lt;/span&gt;, faixa que me motivou a comentar esse disco aqui. Piano e metais de um bom gosto e qualidade sem precedentes na obra do Sr. Kirk. Fraseado grudento. Bateria precisa, de expressão indescritível. O fato é que ainda vou escrever algumas palavras a respeito do &lt;strong&gt;Rahsaan Roland Kirk&lt;/strong&gt;, mas enquanto isso não acontece vocês podem baixar esse disco aí.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bag´s Groove é o melhor disco do Miles desde seu início até 1959, ano do &lt;strong&gt;Kind of Blue&lt;/strong&gt;. Como vocês podem ver pela capa, temos participações de lendas como &lt;strong&gt;Monk&lt;/strong&gt; e &lt;strong&gt;Sonny Rollins&lt;/strong&gt;. E mais uma vez tenho que fazer uma pequena reflexão sobre como escrever aqui tende a promover certas mudanças em entendimentos meus. Tinha por certo que comentaria antes o &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Mingus At The Bohemia&lt;/span&gt;, ou o &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Mingus Oh Yeah&lt;/span&gt;, ou até mesmo o &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Presents Charles Mingus&lt;/span&gt;. Curiosamente, hoje resolvi escutar o &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;The Black Saint &amp; The Sinner Lady&lt;/span&gt; e me senti na obrigação de vir aqui devido a singularidade da obra, da orquestração ímpar do sr. Mingus.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Não me sinto preparado para falar dessa &lt;span&gt;suite em seis partes&lt;/span&gt;, quatro faixas em CD, com 37 minutos e 37 segundos de música executada por *apenas* 11 músicos. É complexidade demais para um menino como eu tentar explicar aqui em sete ou dez linhas. Recomendo apenas que vocês prestem muita atenção em cada nota de &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;T&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;rio and Group Dancers&lt;/span&gt;, principalmente a partir de 12 minutos e 30 segundos de execução. Em outra época eu diria "fones de ouvido", mas não. O Sr. Muggiati não coloca &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;The Clown&lt;/span&gt; nessa selação. Não sei o que dizer. Triste? Infantil? Apenas um lapso, provavelmente. De toda sorte, e talvez por causa desse episódio, esse é o primeiro disco do Sr. Mingus que eu recomendo neste espaço.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;The Clown&lt;/span&gt; merece figurar em qualquer lista apenas pela faixa de abertura, &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Haitian Fight Song&lt;/span&gt;. Começa quase em um sussurro, com o dedilhado aleatório do contra-baixo de Mingus sendo subitamente substituído pelo fraseado que aponta o caminho trilhado durante a faixa. Logo entram os metais, inicialmente também como um sussurro, mas quando menos se espera é como se uma guerra tivesse se iniciado. Caos armado, sons explodem para todos os lados. Nova pausa, novo dedilhado, volta o fraseado, a batalha recomeça.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Quando a HBO realizou aquele seriado sobre o &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Mandrake&lt;/span&gt; (personagem do Rubem Fonseca) foi &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Work Song&lt;/span&gt; a música escolhida como tema do advogado criminalista. Se minha vida fosse uma série da HBO, &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Haitian Fight Song&lt;/span&gt; definitivamente seria minha primeira opção.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Retornando, gostaria de comentar apenas &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;The Clown&lt;/span&gt;, faixa que encerra e dá nome ao disco. Além dos cinco músicos, encontramos aqui um improviso por &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Shepherd"&gt;Jean Shepherd&lt;/a&gt;, centrado em expressões como “&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;he was a real happy guy&lt;/span&gt;” e “&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;all he wanted to do was to make these people laugh&lt;/span&gt;”. As construções da banda são boas, mas é quando estão fazendo cama para a narração que o negócio realmente deslancha. Estamos falando de Charles Mingus no contra-baixo. &lt;span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold"&gt;Mingus Mingus Mingus&lt;/span&gt;, que à época já havia lançado clássicos como o &lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Pithecanthropus Erectus&lt;/span&gt;, &lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;The Clown&lt;/span&gt; e &lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Mingus Ah Um&lt;/span&gt;. E &lt;span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold"&gt;Max Roach&lt;/span&gt;, um dos maiores bateristas de bebop e hard bop, autor de uma verdadeira revolução no Jazz. A composição baixo / bateria / piano durante muito tempo foi minha favorita, mas cedeu espaço depois que fui devidamente apresentado ao sax do Sr. &lt;span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold"&gt;Coltrane&lt;/span&gt; e seu Quarteto Clássico.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mas está aí uma boa briga:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Duke Ellington + Charles Mingus + Max Roach &lt;span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold"&gt;Vs&lt;/span&gt; John Coltrane + McCoy Tyner + Jimmy Garrison + Elvin Jones&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Enfim. Não sei muito bem como explicar o termo, receio que só faça sentido pra mim, mas é como se &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;com o surgimento do &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Hard bop&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt; a partir do meio dos anos 50 o Jazz deixasse de ser apenas mais um estilo de música para se tornar algo mais. Primeiramente, vale marcar que essa formação de baixo/bateria/teclados é a melhor que existe dentro do &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz_fusion"&gt;fusion&lt;/a&gt; (&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;definição autoritária I&lt;/span&gt;). O bom de uma página sem comentários é que eu posso afirmar isso e ficar como uma verdade absoluta. Enfim. Essa formação evita que o fusion vire uma putaria só. Desculpem, mas essa é a única palavra que descreve com propriedade.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dito isso, é de se assombrar que apenas três caras consigam fazer toda a barulhada do &lt;a href="http://outtojazz.blogspot.com/2007/05/no-pretendia-falar-de-nada-que-fosse.html"&gt;Tonic&lt;/a&gt;, principalmente levando em consideração que foi gravado ao vivo e é o &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;acústico&lt;/span&gt; da banda. Esse foi o primeiro de três discos que eles lançaram pela &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Note_Records"&gt;Blue Note&lt;/a&gt; (que hoje em dia abriga gente tipo &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Norah Jones&lt;/span&gt; e &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;The Bird and the Bee&lt;/span&gt;, mas, enfim, o Ciro Gomes está no PPS, não?).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A única gravação fácil de ser encontrada por aqui é uma coletânea que a &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Trama&lt;/span&gt; lançou em 2000, compilando as primeiras gravações do trio, que possui um dos melhores títulos que existem. Confesso que não estava nos planos falar desse disco agora, mas também não vejo nenhum grande problema. Ele chega a ser didático dentro da discografia, e o texto chega a ser meigo, até.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;"Sempre escutei jazz nos auto-falantes do meu som e não no fone. Não sei o motivo, mas me parecia a coisa mais sensata a se fazer. Como se o som fosse grande demais para um pequeno par de fones. Ele deveria ser solto, correr por aí como bem entendesse.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Enfim, o fato é que hoje fui escutar esse disco aí com fones. Que é um puta disco qualquer fã do Coltrane sabe, mas fiquei impressionado com a sonoridade de &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Greensleeves&lt;/span&gt;. A bateria fica mais viva, não só pelas peças serem mixadas em canais diferentes, mas até o timbre da caixa melhorou. Naquele crescendo que tem no meio, ela entra como uma marretada, quase. Como canhões de incentivo naquelas sinfonias de &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Tchaikovsky&lt;/span&gt; (recorri ao google pra escrever direito, reconheço). Voltando, se a caixa fica mais pesada, o piano, principalmente antes dessa parte citada, fica mais e mais suave. Tipo folhas caindo. Tipo lençol novo de seda em casa de madame (o que me lembra o &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;MDCDLG&lt;/span&gt; - movimento das donas de casa dondocas do Lago Sul)"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Esse disco é fácil de baixar, até usuário do Soukseek consegue. Não considero a escolha óbvia, por certo. Apesar do &lt;strong&gt;Giant Steps&lt;/strong&gt; ser um marco, por um motivo que já já vai ser explicitado, existem pelo menos outros três clássicos de suma importância em sua discografia. Descorrerei sobre eles em outro momento.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Gravado 1959, após mais de vinte lançamentos já como lider (ou seja, excluindo aí os discos em que pertencia às bandas de &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Miles Davis&lt;/span&gt; e &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Thelonious Monk&lt;/span&gt;), &lt;strong&gt;Giant Steps&lt;/strong&gt; é o primeiro disco que possui apenas composições do próprio Coltrane. Mas não (só) por isso o escolhi. O disco é um dos mais balanceados do saxofonista, formado por temas animados e bem definidos, permeados por aqueles famosos improvisos executados com tanta genialidade, conhecidos depois por &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheets_of_sound"&gt;Sheets of Sound&lt;/a&gt;, que eu realmente não vou tentar definir em algumas poucas palavras. Você tem que ouvir. As coisas se acalmam apenas em "&lt;strong&gt;Naima&lt;/strong&gt;", nomeada em homenagem à sua esposa.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Coltrane iria mudar muito desse disco pra frente. Deixaria as amarras do bebop pra trás, caindo em um mundo novo que o levaria lá no final de sua carreira ao Free e ao Avant-garde jazz. Dito isso, esse disco do Eric Dolphy possui elementos do free no limite do que eu acho tolerável, que acabam por construir uma atmosfera única dentro do conjunto das faixas.
